The Design & Bespoke Elements
The room itself had so much potential from the start, with its tall ceilings, charming original architectural features, and a large, light-filled window. It just needed a fresh perspective to unlock its magic! Whilst it was a blank canvas, there was one clear brief instruction from Annie – it had to have an imaginative bunk bed for her two boys. Uncover how we achieved this as we detail it all below…
The main element for this space is the epic bunk bed we designed bespoke, complete with cupboard storage, book shelving, wood slat panelling for safety, and a set of stairs leading up to the bed cleverly positioned around the radiator cover and cosy dimmable LED lighting. We chose a mix of materials and colours for this joinery, including space themed wallpaper, oak woods and a mix of pale and deep blues for depth. This use of various materials ensured the bed didn’t feel too overpowering in the room which naturally wasn’t huge, and instead feels like it belongs.
Elsewhere in the space, we added in softer touches to counteract the harder bunk bed materials. For example, we kept the soft neutral carpet (to ease on costs but made sure to give it a deep clean to bring it back to life), a striped roman blind, and blankets, bean bags & cushions with textures like boucle for a cosy feel.
