FAQ
Which package is right for me?
Essentials (£795 + VAT per room) is our most accessible package and covers everything you need to design a room properly: layout plans, a full concept scheme, sourcing, styling, paint, flooring and window treatment guidance, six weeks of designer support and access to our trade discounts.
Full Works (£1,495 + VAT per room) includes all of the above, plus photorealistic 3D renders, a virtual reality walkthrough of your space, an extra two weeks of design time and all your samples posted out in our branded box.
If you’re not sure which suits you, just get in touch and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Can I speak to someone before booking a package?
Yes, and we’d encourage it. Drop us an email or give us a call and we’ll talk through your space, your budget and what you’re hoping to achieve, then recommend the package that makes most sense. No charge, no obligation.
Are your prices per room or per project?
Our design packages are priced per room, so you can design one room now and another later. All prices are plus VAT.
We do sometimes adjust the price if a room is particularly large or small, or if it needs more or less work than usual. Larger, whole-house and on-site projects are quoted individually.
Do you work outside London?
Yes. Our design packages are delivered remotely, so we work with clients right across the UK. Site visits are the exception and are currently limited to London, Brighton and Surrey.
What do you need from me to get started?
Measurements and a floor plan if you have one, photos and a video walkthrough of the space, a realistic budget, and any Pinterest boards or images that show what you’re drawn to. We’ll send you our measuring guide so this is straightforward. The more we have upfront, the sharper your first draft will be.
Do I need to know my budget before we start?
Yes, and it makes a real difference. We’ll ask for a realistic furnishings budget early so we can source to it. Without one we’re guessing, which usually means a scheme that either overshoots what you wanted to spend or underdelivers on what you were hoping for. Nothing is off limits, we just need to know what we’re working with.
Do you do site visits?
Yes, for an additional fee. We currently cover London, Brighton and Surrey.
Most of our projects run beautifully without one. We ask for detailed measurements, floor plans, photos and video of your space at the start, which gives us what we need to design accurately and keeps your costs down.
Do you offer revisions?
Yes. At the concepts and layouts stage you have up to three rounds of revisions from the point you receive your first draft. At the 3D render stage you have one round of revisions.
We do plenty of talking before that first draft lands, so revisions are usually about refining detail rather than starting again. Anything beyond the included rounds can be quoted as additional design time.
How long does the design process take?
Essentials includes six weeks of design time per room and Full Works includes eight. That runs from your project kick-off and assumes feedback and approvals come back to us within a few days at each stage.
The biggest factor in how quickly a project moves is you. Late feedback, changes of mind and delayed approvals all push timelines out, so the more responsive you are, the faster we go.
How do I receive my design?
Everything lives in your own Topology Portal: layouts, concept boards, renders, your shopping list and all your project information in one place. You’ll have access throughout the project and can go back to it whenever you like. Full Works clients also receive their samples posted out in our branded box.
Do I get access to your trade discounts?
Yes. As a Topology client you get access to the trade discounts and promo codes we’ve built up with a wide range of retailers and suppliers, from paint and tiles to furniture and lighting. If there’s a particular brand you’d like to use, tell us and we’ll see what we can arrange.
Do you order everything for me?
On our design packages you’ll receive a full shopping list in your Portal and place the orders yourself, using our trade discounts where they apply. On our On-site Design and Project Management projects we can handle procurement for you.
Either way, lead times and stock sit with the supplier, so it pays to order as soon as your scheme is signed off.
What happens if something is out of stock or arrives damaged?
If an item becomes unavailable within a week of us sending your shopping list, we’ll source a replacement for you. After that week, re-sourcing is down to you, which is why we always recommend ordering promptly once your scheme is signed off.
If something arrives damaged, keep the packaging, take photos and report it to the retailer within their returns window. Where we’ve placed the order on your behalf, we’ll take it up with the supplier for you.
Can you tailor a package to suit my project?
Yes. If you need more support than a standard package but don’t need full project management, our Hybrid+ service adds things like site involvement, quote coordination, budget preparation, samples meetings and contractor introductions.
Add-ons such as joinery drawings, technical drawings and deeper renovation support can also be quoted separately.
Do you offer project management?
We do, on a limited number of projects. Our On-site Design and Project Management service is for larger, higher-touch homes where we’re involved in the design, procurement, site coordination, installation and overall delivery. Capacity is limited, so do get in touch early if this is what you’re after.
Can I use my own builder or contractor?
Of course. We’ll happily work alongside your contractor, though we also have a small selection of trades we know and trust who we’d be happy to pass on. This is free with our Full Works packages. For other packages, our tradespeople book is £49 inc VAT.
