Yep, it’s the penultimate day of September, so we can safely say we didn’t have that Indian summer everyone was holding out for. But lets not get our knickers in a twist just yet, although Summer may be over Autumn is definitely in full swing. It’s the perfect season if you think about – not too hot and not too cold, there’s still daylight and you have that excuse to cosy up on the sofa under a blanket in front of a good film whilst it’s raining outside. Chrysalism – that’s the term for when there’s something like a thunderstorm outside and you get joy from hearing it being safely undercover and inside. And that’s what Autumn is all about. Tip 1: Switch Up Your Bed Linen
If you’ve switched to lighter cotton or linen bed linen for the summer, Autumn brings the time to change to something with a thicker cog to help you keep warm in the colder nights as we run into winter. Try bed linen with a higher thread count (500 upwards) for a thicker and more luxury bed. Opt for a neutral bed linen base so you can play around with throws, cushions with an Autumnal feel. Tip 2: Mood Light That Room
Autumn is all about getting cosy and theres not better way to feel cosier than to have a well lit room. I chose this Kubix lamp from Wayfair by the brand House Doctor – one of my all time favourite brands – because of it’s quirky design and non-exposed light bulb which creates a softer glow in the room. Tip 3: Play Around With Textures
Textures are key for any room design, especially in Autumn when the temperatures dropped – it means we can layer up with blankets, sheepskin hides, woods and velvets etc. To play with textures I chose two items. A house doctor lamp and a hock designs side table – links to buy them are below. I love how the mottled taupe coloured glass mixed with brass bass contrasts the sleek yet rustic wooden effect on the side table.

Tip 4: Buy That ‘Cosy’ Making Item
I have an absolutely weakness for blankets – honestly. I can’t sit on a sofa without one, nor do I have the restraint to not buy them. So when Wayfair challenged me to style some Autumnal decor I instantly thought ‘blanket!’. But no. I rationally reconsidered – what else could I use instead of a blanket this time. Well I don’t know about you but I love to cosy up on the sofa with a hot chocolate or tea. So I erred away from the traditional mugs and fell in love with these stylish glass mugs which retain heat and look epic to drink from. See the link to buy them below.
