Everyone loves a candle – they’re the perfect home accessory for any room. Firstly, love the concept behind it, using recyled wine bottles as their container – eco friendly, AND stylish. Plus their price point is pretty good – around £25. We’ve tried quite a few of their scents and particularly love Chardonnay, Mulled Wine and Spiced Cider. My only advice is that sometimes they are so strong that I would recommend putting them away from you – so on your mantlepiece if you are lounging on the sofa, not directly near you. We give them an 8/10 rating.

If you’re into supporting small businesses, definitely give Lomas & Lomas a try – they’re a husband and wife duo based near the Peak District National Park who take influences for their products from their beautiful natural surroundings. They have some amazing scents like Spiced Orange, Black Plum & Rhubarb as well as Mandarin, Lime & Basil, pictured. Handmade with 100% natural soy wax, they’re made in small batches to ensure the fragrance is perfect and have a really great aroma when burnt. Burn time is around 40 hours. We give them a 9/10 rating.

These candles are…wait for it….a candle lottery! One in every 50 candles has a diamond in it worth around £250, and some worth £1000. You’ll have to burn them to see if you’ve won one, which is cruel because you want to burn it quickly to to find out, but at the same time don’t want to waste it and burn it willy nilly. I must confess I’ve tried a few of these now and am still waiting for my diamond… but even so, we love everything about this brand from packaging, to scents and novelty factor. Sometimes you can find these heavily disconted in TK MAXX. Otherwise, you’ll need to order them from France. Our rating? 10/10.
