The Style Files No. 29a home to make you neutral lovers reconsider your home design
Last weekend our Style Files showed us around Malcolm’s home as he invited us into his dark & stylish Aberdeen property – but this week we have something completely different for you – take a look at Rebecca’s colourful home, her Mancunian Airbnb. It’s filled with bright pops of colour, quirky artwork & paint murals a plenty. Now prepare yourself as we get all inception on you – Rebecca is the sister in law of Chris, whose house we featured a few weeks ago! See Chris’s home here. If you’re a regular follower of our house tours perhaps you have recognised Rebecca’s photography style as she took the photos for Chris’ too – we love her style. If you’re into bright and airy home design, with bold colour & scandi influences, this home is definitely worth snooping around…
What’s the inspiration behind your home?
It would need a new kitchen, bathroom, floors, plastering, carpets, windows, and all on a minimal budget. So, mainly, it is the budget that has inspired me! But, the natural brightness in the house is really lovely, and I’ve allowed myself to explore a sense of playfulness and experimentation that my husband doesn’t allow me to try out in our own home!
Was there a design process behind your home?
I was given loads of amazing things for the house from family and friends after putting a call out for quirky and stylish items that were no longer needed. My budget had been eaten up in renovating the house, so furnishing it was going to be hard. I took everything that was offered to me, but sometimes this did mean that I had clashing styles and colours. I used this in my favour and made it a feature of the house! With odd bits that I couldn’t find a place for I’d get the spray paint out, or re-purpose in one way or another.
