The Style Files No. 24ever wondered how you can combine your love for vintage, boho and eclectic decor into one?
When you undergo any sort home decoration, you would have probably found that it can be so hard to narrow down all your favourite interior styles into one home. Making your space cohesive and actually looking good can be tough with so much inspiration and great ideas out there. This is why we love this weeks Style Files House Tour interviewee Hayley, as her home is the perfect combination of boho, vintage, industrial & eclectic decor. Scroll on to see how she’s perfectly combined all her favourite elements…
Like many of our Style Files homeowners she doesn’t have a background in interiors (see more Style Files here), but has a great eye for it. It comes as no surprise that interior is her passions and something she is working towards doing. Hayley lives in a small village in Hampshire with her husband Jordan, two sons Rex & Mack (awesome names right!?) and Arthur the dog. If you want to get to know her more, you can visit her interior & lifestyle blog here…
What’s the inspiration behind your home?
The inspiration behind our home is to basically fill it with things that I love. My husband doesn’t have any interest in interior so luckily I have free reign over what it looks like. I am influenced by vintage and love bohemian touches too.
Was there a design process behind your home?
We rent our home, so we haven’t been able to make any structural changes to the cottage. When I design a room, I always create a moodboard first, and work on that for a few weeks so that I can think about what I want in the room and find things to compliment each other and the house. I love to have a mixture of modern and vintage and upcycling is something I love to do. I think it helps to make a room unique and full of character.
What’s your best advice for creating a home like yours?
In order to create a home like mine you have to source from all over the place. I find things at car boot sales, vintage and antique shops, gumtree as well as high street stores. I also play with patterns and texture a lot to create warmth and interest.
“I don’t think a house feels like a home without flowers or a plant! If you feel like a room is missing something, it will be flowers”
If you could only own one homeware item, what would it be?
If I could own one homeware item it would be a vase. The reason is, I don’t think a house feels like a home without flowers or a plant! If you feel like a room is missing something, it will be flowers.
How would you define your style?
I would define my style as a mixture of vintage, bohemian and eclectic. It’s hard to pigeon hole it because I just buy what I love to create my own style.
