The Style Files No. 36a monochrome home....there's a 50 shades of grey pun in here somewhere
Last week we flew you to Berlin to view Daniela’s apartment, so if you missed it you can play catch up here. This week we’re taking you back to the UK, near Manchester to be precise, to mooch around Miriam’s 2 bed new build apartment home. She’s a 23 year old visual merchandising co-ordinator whose got a passion for interior design and quite clearly a talent for it too. We chose to feature Miriam’s home as we wanted to show you that a home without colour doesn’t have to be a dull or a bland one. Mixing textures, greys, creams and blacks can create a striking combination and one we can be inspired from, so enjoy…
How would you define your style?
I would define my style as simple, yet cosy with a Scandi influence. I love mixing textures and patterns to create depth that makes my home warm and inviting. Pairing soft materials with natural and industrial elements is what I aim for. I try to do this in my home in a subtle way so that the cosiness isn’t compromised!
What’s your favourite spot in the home and why?
My favourite spot has to be in the corner of the sofa. Comfier than our bed, cosy, and I get to look out onto my favourite pieces of furniture. The black shelving unit and the TV stand. Apart from the sofa, these are the main bits of furniture we bought when we moved in here, everything else came with us. I love how they work in the room, fit my style and feel completely different to our old living room.
Where do your find your inspiration?
Most of my inspiration comes from Pinterest or Instagram. Any spare minute I have I’m on there pinning away. Sometimes though, I just go with what I feel and like, without worrying too much if its bang on trend.

What’s your favourite interior shop?
This is a difficult one for me as I buy stuff from all over the place. I love Home Sense because there is always something different. But my all time favourite has to be Cox & Cox. I just wish my bank balance allowed me to buy their gorgeous stuff. One can dream!
