The Style Files No. 37 Fiona's Project

Fiona's so good, we've featured her twice.

Can you believe we’re on our 37th Style Files!? 10 months on and we’re still showing you epic home design. Don’t worry this feature is no exception. Last week we showed off a beautiful pink striped bedroom (see it here) designed by interior designer Fiona Brass. And guess what? She’s back again this week as Fiona lets us tour around yet another one of her clients beautiful homes. If you’re into pops of colour, rich velvets and contemporary design with class, you’ll want to scroll down to have a snoop around this home…

What’s the inspiration behind the design?

With this project, I wanted to revive what had been left to disrepair. The original features were my initial inspiration…Parquet flooring, fireplace, sash windows.

Did you come across any obstacles during the design process?

The flat needed a full damp proofing before any work could be undertaken. The garden office also needed a new roof. Both works needed to be carried out before we could progress with the interior design element.

Did the client have any existing furniture to work around?

I look at the space I have to play with and make sure key items can feature beautifully but also have room to function properly. Then I build in layers until its complete and styled. I also consider light and what the use of the room is. For every design I have a detailed client briefing first, usually with all family members involved! It’s important that I can apply my design but capture my clients personality in their homes.

What’s your favourite room in the home?

At the moment I’m intrigued with lofts. It’s an area which has so much potential and releasing the space in the right way can create some marvellous spaces.

Where do you look for inspiration ?

I really enjoy Instagram for inspiration. It might not even be interiors but some images can really capture the essence of what I want to achieve. I love Emily Henderson for her classically cool designs and also Design Milk for some simplicity but fabulous function.
