Announcing The Talent Lab Launch: But What Is It?what a designer's dreams a MADE(.com) of
Ever wanted to design the perfect furniture piece for you? Or ever looked at that sofa and thought, ‘I’ve got a better design than that’? Well now you can test your hand at furniture design so easily and potentially reap massive rewards. Don’t worry you don’t have to be some fancy designer using complicated software. Yep that’s right, MADE.COM’s new platform TalentLAB has made it so easy for any Tom, Dick or Harry to upload their designs. We’re talking anything from a rough sketch on a piece of paper to a fully fledged 3D render. Designs are uploaded to the platform and shortlisted by the team at MADE. The shortlist is then voted on by the general public, who pledge a small, refundable deposit, and have the final say as to whether your design goes into production. Intrigued? Well read on…
To start the process, designers upload their ideas directly to the TalentLAB platform in the hope to become shortlisted by MADE.COM. The design-savvy MADE.COM customer base, i.e. the general public, will then decide whether a design is worth pledging a small, refundable deposit on (between £5 – £30). In doing so, they are registering their interest in seeing a product being made. MADE will commit to putting the designs with the most pledges into production and releasing them on the website for us all to buy! Great idea or what!?
Those who pledge will get privileged pricing of up to 30% off the final sale price via an exclusive window to buy the designs before they are officially launched on MADE.COM. If however you pledge for a product that doesn’t quite make the final cut, then your money is returned to you! I hate to sound like an awful telly ad for Injury Lawyers 4 You but ‘it’s a no win no fee’ sorta thing!
To get you inspired to create some designs, have a look at Charlotte Petitpierre’s amazing table lamp design called ‘Hiraki’. It will be going into production, due to a decision made by the MADE.com big dogs, as Charlotte won the ‘Emerging Talent Award’ for great design. If she can do it, why can’t you? So what are you waiting for? Get designing folks!
