Luxury’ – it’s a word that signifies decadence, sophistication and an out of the norm treat. Think a hot stone massage, followed by champagne truffles and a bottle of Moet. Actually, who are we kidding. Tesco’s finest loo roll or an M&S £10 dine in for two is a pretty good luxury. Are we right? Jokes aside, the word ‘luxury’ has connotations that come with it – and it screams expensive or unnattainable. But not today! Yep, we’re showing you how to incorporate some great home luxuries into your living spaces, that’ll give off that ‘luxury’ feel without the price tag. So cmon, let us help you trick people into thinking you’re living your best life with these 7 easy and affordable luxury home decor solutions.

1. EXTERIOR DOOR ACCESSORIES

Nothing says luxury better than features on the exterior of your house. Wow your guests before they’ve even entered the space, starting from the very first point of contact with your home. Your doorbell! Something like a brass doorbell is the perfect luxury statement and sets up big expectations from the inside. Oh and guess what..  this one pictured from Dowsing & Reynolds is…£6.99! How can you go wrong with a price like that.

2. FANCY KNOBS

Here at Topology we love a good knob. In particular the range from Anthropoligie is pretty epic – whether you’re into metallics, gems, porcelain or a simple wood they’ve got a shed load of designs ranging from about a fiver. These ones pictured are £8 each, click on the pic to buy.  If you need to do it on the extra cheap though, Ebay and brick-a-brack markets are a great place to source knobs too.

3. LUXURY SWITCHES

It’s the little things. These fancy AF switches from Dowsing & Reynolds are such a great way of adding the luxury home touch to your space. Not only do they feel good to turn on (coming from first hand experience as Athina has these in her flat) but they also attract some serious attention – you’ll be suprised at just how many people notice them!

4. A BOUGIE LOO ROLL HOLDER

An unintentional black and gold theme going on here, but regardless we love this Bloomingville loo roll holder from Amara! Give your booty the special treatment and make something typically mundane (your bog roll) something a bit posh. Doesn’t have to be this one, but you get the idea – jazz up yout bathroom features!

5. SOMETHING VELVET

What’s soft, luxurius and opulent – velvet! But also now totally attainable at affordable prices. From sofas, to armchairs, to pouffes and ottomans, velvet should be your go to fabric if you’re wanting to add a touch of luxury into your home. We love this blush velvet chair from Atkin & Thyme that’s just £399, but try other brands like Calvers & Suvdal, MADE.COM and Swoon for other amazing velvet pieces for realistically affordable prices.

6. SOMETHING MARBLE

Marble is another important ingredient to creating a luxury home. Whether you can afford the highest quality carrara (that’s fine quality Italian marble to you and me) or imitation marble, it doesn’t matter – just get it in somehow! Cater towards what your budget can allow – whether you add marble touches in the form of a chopping board hung proudly in the kitchen or a side table or coffee table, you can find something for all budgets. You can also find great quality marbles pieces from budget retailers like Aldi, Wayfair and Swoon. This side table is from Zara Home and retails at £119, but there’s cheaper out there!

7.  HEATED TOWEL RAILS

Probably the last thing you’re thinking of in June, but we want a luxury home throughout the whole year. Just picture yourself in the height of winter, stepping out of the shower to find that your towels have been sitting on a heated towel rails the entire time –  #winningatlife. Try Best Heating who do a large range of different options for you to warm up on – we’re really loving the traditional styles ones at the moment.
